Shared room, claim as an expense?

I'll be starting a new contract in a few weeks and I'll be needing to pay for a shared room at another location being a long way from my home.

I'm assuming that I can just get the landlord to give me a receipt for the monthly rent and claim it as an expense.

    Anybody else do this?
