I was wondering if someone could give me some advice.
Okay here goes. I've been offered a role with client A starting next week close to my home in the North West (40 mins by train). Not a brilliant pay rate but decent enough (£200 per day). I haven't signed contracts yet but if I do, I'm only tied to a one weeks notice. The poisition is for 6 months with 6 months extensions available.
I just found out today I've been successful in an early interview but the job is in the South West. Having a 4 month old I really don't want to be away from my family and have considered relocating. The job is initially for 4 months but pays £400 per day with a possiblility of a permenent position at senior mgmt level (£60k per year approx).
Ideally they wanted me to start straight away but understand that I will need time to sort things out. The longest they can hold out for is 6 weeks.
Is it possible to relocate to an area you know nothing about in 6 weeks and would you a) move and risk being stuck without a contract in 4 months and in a place you don't know and have no friends/contacts but which could more than likely lead to a decently paid permie position or b) take the lower paid job and risk being out of work in 6 months but not have the hassle of trying to sell your house, find rental accommodation, and relocate a family.
A or B - which would you choose?
