    Driving whilst over the limit.

I'm not talking about drink driving...i.e. you have some beers, then get in your car. That's obviously bad -we're all taught that these days.

But do you lot drive whilst over the limit? I.e. drink on Saturday, then get up a drive on Sunday morning?

One of my friends got done 2 years ago for being over the limit on a Monday morning, having been out on the Saturday night!
She was banned for a year, and had to do a safety course. On the course she learnt that a guy there had been breathalised on a WEDNESDAY and was over the limit - he hadn't drank since Saturday!

Are you lot conscious of this? Is there any home breathalising kit you can get these days?

Was aware of it : but have never heard of anyone being over the limit more than a day after drinking. I guess their liver must be bad at breaking down alcohol? Isn't it usual for liver to get rid of a unit every hour?

Technically, you are. There is no distinction in the law.

You can work it out roughly. (IIRC) The average person takes 1 hour to metabolise one unit of alcohol, so 5 pints of 3.5 - 4% beer would roughly take about 10 hours to be completely out of your system.

A small glass of wine is one unit, as is a 25ml shot of spirits.

Depending on your physiology, the time take to metabolise might be more or less.

When I was young and fit, like Mitch, my liver was fantastic. It was the size of a hot water bottle and used to keep me in good nick. Over the years it has shrivelled and split and now resembles a wizened horse chestnut.
So you have to take that into account m'lud

Yes technically, but not in reality.

I wasn't drunk on Sunday morning, but I was over the limit.

There's a difference in everything except the driving laws.

I burn food and break things after only 2 pints at home, people who say they're ok to drive are kidding themselves.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus

I’m fit, but not very young any more, as I was forced to realize after Sunday’s 50 km bike ride in the blazing sun.
