Aside from any rather large ethical issues, just thinking practically here; how is Mr Wilders to determine who is and isn’t a muslim?

- place of birth?
Won’t work; plenty of non-muslims are born in Islamic countries
- entering a mosque?
I suppose you could hold razzias outside mosques, but seeing as I’ve visited a few mosques and I’m about as atheist as Richard Dawkins, that won’t really be an accurate criteria
- having an Islamic name?
Hmm, no, even muslims can convert to another faith or become atheists
- wearing muslim clothing?
might work just as long as the few muslims who actually wear the full garb don’t decide to put on a t-shirt and jeans
- being in possession of a Koran?
Well of course Mr Wilders wants to ban the Koran, so any arrests on this basis would have to include most of Europe’s library directors, bookshop owners, anthropologists and university chancellors
- refusal to eat a ham sandwich?
OK, so you can round up the Jews and the veggies while you’re at it
- refusal to drink a pint?

As usual Wilders comes along spouting his narrow minded anti-intellectual oral pig slurry with no thought to the consequences of his own words. He can do that because he’s an single issue opposition politician who isn’t under pressure to weigh up the conflicting interests and needs of the individuals that make up a society. He gets his support from people who are at best too dim, or at worst too intellectually lazy and self obsessed to put one iota of thought into the issues around them and produce a coherent argument for anything they’re saying.

Right here in Holland he avoids debate, insults those who have the temerity to disagree with him and produces long lists of activities he wants to ban and people whose liberty he wishes to remove while calling his ‘party’, which has no democratic mechanisms, ‘the Freedom Party’.

He is a charlatan, his followers are fools and he doesn’t deserve the attention he’s getting.
