    My bits ...

    I've got extra ones.

I spent the last couple of hours taking all my kit apart and clean up all the dust and muck. Then I’ve put it all back together again. It looks very nice.
However, I’ve got three power cords and a four-way adapter left over.

Everything works and I’ve even got spaces in the other multi-way adapters. I can account for one of the cords as being from a dead monitor, but I have no idea about the other two or why I needed the extra four-way thingy.

    Spooky.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

If it wasn't broken, why did you try to fix it?
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

I was plugging in the laptop the other day and saw how dirty it was behind the computers and thought that it looked a bit like a fire hazard. (Yes, that bad!)

I think I can account for the multi-way block now. Ages ago I had everything running off the one double wall socket. I moved some things over to another socket the other side of the desk and I think it was used then. I still can't account for the two power cords.

It is normal to have lots of bits left over from any job. I have a huge plastic bag of screws and plastic things and cubes of wood and stuff left over from doing my new shed. Every time you repair something you have even more bits left over and every time they seem to work better than ever.

PS Have you ever tried turning your keyboard upside down and shaking it? Yee gods, the crap that comes out. It's like somebody died on it.
