    London V Elsewhere

I noticed that a lot of people that are benched are outside London.

Is there a big difference between the market inside and outside London?

I'm near enough to London to work there.

I see no difference, but there are still finance & energy sector jobs advertised in London (and a smattering of others) - I just don't apply any more because they are not interested.

What is your specialisation? I am chiefly a software development PM.

Not sure that I've seen it to be honest; over the last few years a lot of the larger businesses (T-Mobile, GE, Oracle) have moved out of London anyway.

Yeah, c'mon if you're hard enough.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Don't know; I've never worked outside London.

Actually London can be a very tough place because of the huge pool of candidates here. 1000's of Aussie contractors who won't look past zone 2 on the tube map, let alone Reading, Basingstoke or Milton Keynes.

I'd be benched a lot more if I didnt work away from home - usually down South - with the odd trip up to Scotland!
Most of my work seems to be down here.

Current live in Manchester, but working in Wimbledon.
I spent 5 months last year on the bench - so I'm not at liberty to be too choosy about where I work.

I'm sorry, but I'll make no apologies for this

I just checked. Elsewhere kicks London's arse.

I reckon it depends whats your speciality and what specific sector do you work in.

Iv always worked in London (or South East) but i got current gig in Glasgow 9 months ago.

Now this gig is finishing, and i cant see anything in Glasgow (or Edinburgh) for me,even on tulip rates. But im getting few calls from London and im desperate to go back. But yes, its bloody too competitive over there.

                  Liar - I get 112,000,000 London, elsewhere 1,980,000
