Barbarism - skinning of animals whilst they're still alive

I don't normally respond to highly emotive emails requesting forwarding to large numbers of people for obvious reasons, but I received the following today and it just got to me:

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO SIGN THE PETITION.

If you do one thing special today, please make a difference-sign this petition (click on 'forward' then add your name)

With a hidden camera, animals were filmed being SKINNED ALIVE!!! They say it's done to get a more perfect ''cut'', afterwards the carcasses are tossed into a pile, still alive, and
for up to 10 minutes you can see their hearts still beating, in agony, their eyes still blinking, and the puppies little paws still shaking.

There was one pup that still lifted his head and gazed at the camera with bloodied eyes. If you don't care to see the video, please sign and forward to your friends: this monstrosity has to be stopped, we have to act!!

Please scroll down and add your signature to the petition and send to everyone in your address book. There is no need to see the video, but if you must, be aware, it's horrible. The following video is of excruciating violence. It's painful silence affects us all deeply. If we don't protect animals from this type of brutality, we become accomplices

    http://www.peta.org/feat/ChineseFurFarms/index.asp

When the list reaches 500 names, please forward to:
    [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>

So, if any of you are moved by the video to want to take action, please start your own petitions to be forwarded to PETA when they reach 500 names.

Just some background on me, in case you think I'm an eco nut, I'm a meat eating, 4x4 driving, man-made climate change sceptic.

I just can't see a legitimate argument for inflicting harm on an animal without cause. There is no justifiable reason in my mind for skinning an animal alive. If you feel strongly enough about it, do something.

    Thanks

I would be far more inclined to sign on on-line petition.

This kind of activity was common in many parts of Europe once.

Its normal practice in the fishing industry to let all of your catch suffocate to death. Those that are strong enough not to suffocate, get disemboweled while still alive.

Baby seals are still routinely clubbed to death in large numbers in many so called civilized countries.

If normal folk didn't create a market for this kind of thing, then it wouldn't happen.

A petition will do nothing to stem these practices, only if it becomes economically unprofitable will the trade end.

Most of these pelts will end up in fashion products sold in high street stores around the world.

Read it again. Its done to get a perfect cut. Who wants to pay top dollar for a dodgy fitting fur?

wouldn't it be so much easier if all these animals simply evolved zips? Ultimately it is their lazy genetics which is to blame.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

          I preferred version 1!

Is this the same PETA that had a hissy fit when the Merkin president killed a fly?

(Some of the comments at the bottom of that page are great.)
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

                  Disgusting, but then again:

Animal lovers worldwide now have access to more than a decade’s worth of proof that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) kills thousands of defenseless pets at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. Since 1998, PETA has opted to “put down” 21,339 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens instead of finding homes for them.
PETA’s “Animal Record” report for 2008, filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, shows that the animal rights group killed 95 percent of the dogs and cats in its care last year. During all of 2008, PETA found adoptive homes for just seven pets.
Just seven animals -- out of the 2,216 it took in. PETA just broke its own record.
Why would an animal rights group secretly kill animals at its headquarters? PETA’s continued silence on the matter makes it hard to say for sure. But from a cost-saving standpoint, PETA’s hypocrisy isn’t difficult to understand: Killing adoptable cats and dogs – and storing the bodies in a walk-in freezer until they can be cremated – requires far less money and effort than caring for the pets until they are adopted.
PETA has a $32 million annual budget. But instead of investing in the lives of the thousands of flesh and blood creatures in its care, the group spends millions on media campaigns telling Americans that eating meat, drinking milk, fishing, hunting, wearing leather shoes, and benefiting from medical research performed on lab rats are all “unethical.”
The bottom line: PETA’s leaders care more about cutting into their advertising budget than finding homes for the nearly six pets they kill on average, every single day.
The Virginia Beach SPCA, just down the road from PETA’s Norfolk headquarters, manages to adopt out the vast majority of the animals in its care. And it does it on a shoestring budget.
Years of public outrage has not been enough to convince PETA to eliminate its pet eradication program.
Now the death toll of animals in PETA’s care has reached 21,339, including more than 2,000 pets last year. That’s not an animal charity. It’s a slaughterhouse.
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

I bin anything that's got more than 1 exclamation mark after any sentence.

When bad things stop happening to humans I'll worry about dogs being skinned.
