Help required with managing a shares portfolio

I'm looking at following the stock markets (UK, EU and USA and possibly further afield). I have a selftrade account.

Not being an expert in this field (I've always been a fan of property and commodities as they can't go to zero), can anyone suggest some software / online system that:

    1. Shows the stock market constituents or my portfolio, their historical prices, volumes, p/e, balance sheet data, dividend yield.

    2. Shows the market by sector

    3. Allows charts to be drawn with various indicators on them.

Failing this, gives me access to the raw data so I can use Excel to track what I've bought, what I'm watching to buy etc.

Not saying I want to buy into equities at the moment (expecting further falls as the green shoot bulltulip evaporates) but want to be knowledeable on what to buy in the dips.

    Cheers,

Thanks for taking this post seriously.

Depends if you're after funds or individual company stock- Selftrade has info on all the stocks that compose a fund and the funds performance. I havent used it for a while so I'm not sure if it contains info for individual companies.

Research for individual companies you could get from Yahoo at a pinch, although I'm sure someone can recommend a better free alternative.

Re: Graphs and stuff - Online services like IG Markets have tons of graphs and the like to play about with if you have an account with them, although it's all online based rather than software you install permanently on your machine.

I *think* for a permanent software install with ability to update market data you would be looking at some kind of subscription service. Again I believe they are based on either "live" or "end of day" updates so you would get a live feed (probably unnecessary) or the end of day info send to the software to allow you to graph to your hearts content.

I'm no expert though - sure there are plenty with more comprehensive advice.
The mind is its own place, and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven

Don't want funds want individual share data and tools.

There must be software out there that tracks shares, monitors trends, compares, runs "what-if" scenarios etc?

Not looking for free. Fee based software + subscription is fine.

For example I'd like to see the Altman-Z score of each company.

You might find that your bank or broker would provide you with it as a freebie or if not can advise on this.

        Other than that - bloomberg?

          Is Bloomberg software?

I don't have time to trawl for all the data and update.

Surely there is software out there to do this for private investors?

How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Reuters and Bloomberg both offer live data, trends, tracking and analysis services on a fee basis, they charge a lot, but that's what the fund managers and brokers pay for.
I believe that they offer differing levels of service depending on how much you're willing to pay.
When I worked in Fund Management the fees were steep, but the service from both suppliers was exceptional.
