IT start-ups to receive £150m from government

The government is to provide up to £150 million worth of funding to new IT ventures.

According to the authorities, the money will be put into the UK Innovation Investment Fund, which should generate £1 billion worth of funding for start-ups during the next ten years.

Prime minister Gordon Brown said: 'This fund will help build Britain's future by investing in key sectors. It will provide crucial support for our most promising start-ups and existing small companies just when they need it most.
So how is this dosh going to get wasted?

    Plenty quickly, much technical.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus

Start an outsourcing company using the proceeds. This government is so stupid they'll fall over themselves to give money to firms that will employ abroad.
      Hard Brexit now!

          Bum.

The UK Innovation Investment Fund will operate on a fund-of-funds structure which means it will not invest directly in companies, but rather invest in a small number of specialist technology funds that have the expertise and track record to invest directly in companies.
          It's just money for quangos.

          Gits.

That's OK, we can share it.

I asked a friend who works at scottish enterprise what were the chances of getting funding for a business plan I had, he basically told me to forget it and that if I had made facebook and asked them for startup cash they would have told me to bugger off.

In my exp the money is handed out to established companies to keep a few bums on seats, they do not understand the startup enterprise mindset.

So it's to keep seats warm rather than to buy new seats? Sod that.
