    Passport to.....

    profit?

    Government ministers have blamed the move on the recession, which they say has reduced the number of new passport applications and therefore resulted in a drop in income.
    I can accept the fact of inflation, but if they can't control their cost base, why should I have to pay?

    Do we all get to up our rates "because there's a recession on"?

    Will the price go down again when the recession's over?

    I wish...

    I wasn't aware they were supposed to make profits?

    Got my new one last week, was surprised how quickly it came. Begrudged paying £72 especially as I'm on bones of my arse at moment and not planning on going away, but you need a passport half the time you get a job nowadays.

        This is a pisstake of the highest order.

        All of the passport data is going onto NIR which would / will form the backbone of the ID card scheme. Ladies and gents we're being ID carded by stealth.

        Labour = devious.

          Agreed. There will be a fee to get back in to the country before too long.

            And it'll be like the Severn Bridge: only the English will have to pay.

              I'd have to think about that one.

                I'd go and claim asylum in Slovakia.
