    Up 3.9%?

But if you'd put your money in a FTSE tracker it would be at least 12.5% up over the year...

PS: Apologies to AtW, but the BBC just won't listen to me

Tut tut. Some people never learn.
Property for the long run, stocks and shares for both the short and long.
      Balanced portfolio, old bean.

          Quite SG.

And let us not forget, you cannot live in a stock nor a share, for that matter.

No indeed. If I do make some money by the end of my life I'll be giving it all away - and not to my offspring either.

Apparently Bill 'Boy' Gates is still promising to give away 90% of his wealth before he retires, so might be worth your while sending him an email as well...

Not surprised. I've met too many rich kids with inherited wealth - and they tend (with a few exceptions) to be total tosspots. If I can afford it I might leave my kids with a mortgage free property to get them started. That's good enough, I reckon.
