Contracting as we know it is gone forever.

Clients just put my start date back a few days because they haven't got a laptop/login etc sorted out in time.

Whatever happened to easing yourself into a contract by reading specs wrapped round a good book for a couple of weeks?

A few days! Even Ms Numpty here can sort out a login in less than a day.
Admittedly the laptop is a bit harder ...

My record is 18 months at a site having to be signed in each day as HR hadn't managed to arrange a pass. I also supplied my own laptop there as the PC I was meant to use was too rubbish to use.

Last site was a 6 month gig, HR completed induction in my final week.

I remember having to build my own desk! At more than one client!

              The famous IKEA gig?

I did some work last year for IKANO (their finance arm) and all of their furniture (and I do mean all of it - including boardroom stuff) is from IKEA.

The group CEO - wildly, ridiculously wealthy bloke - gets the bus everywhere.

Did you still have to do the 'safe use of the bathroom' course?

No, they didn't have that one. Did do the exit interview the same day as induction was completed though.
