    Missing the family

Not even a rant. Pathetic waving emotion needed.

I mentioned to the wife that during this climate, having billable work is awesome. Being able to make it home at weekends is also awesome. She is no fool, and accepts this.

    I have 3 boys. Boy#1 = 5 on the 6th August.
    Boy#2 = 2 on the 21/3/2009
    Boy#3 = 3 weeks old

As this is most likely my last child, I am missing out on my last baby. :sadface

Last night I was awake three times, due to missing boy #2. I obviously miss boys #1-3 all the time, but last night I could not stop worrying about boy#2. I was told this morning that boy#2 kept waking and asking for daddy.

**** this life, I mean **** it. Why can't the world just go and sort iitself so I can get home at night.
Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.

Reality check - if you want to be company man at local firm tou get home every night.

If you want to be a contractor, this means chasing the dollar, wherever that is.

are you motivated by money, or family? If both, what is the most important to you?

Sounds like family is now the priority, so why not consider anything local and get back to contracting once family life settles down?

Contracting will always be there, in one form or another.

Unfortunately, you cannot say the same thing about your loved ones, for various reasons (accidents, diseases, etc), and once they are gone, they are gone.

Best of luck with your choice !
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I'm sorry, but I'll make no apologies for this

I don't know if anyone knows this, but even if I wanted a local permy gig, there isn't one. Everyone is chasing the dollar at the moment. Even benched permies are trying to get permie/contracts.

Family is most important. As my wife says, she would be happy with us living in a cardbord box, as long as we are all together. The butler agrees.
