    Contract season

Is it true that most contracts start in September and April?
If so, aren't people better off getting their contracts to coincide with this cycle? thanks.

I usually pick up a contract in august/september and work for 6 months aiming to take the summer off and I would agree that the end of summer is the busiest time.

I only took this feckin gig cos I am buying a house and all the PANIC! these days.

Rough guide to the year and what a contractor should expect if looking for a new contract

Late Jan - Early March: Minor increase due to new year projects, also some due to "must spend my budget before financial year end"

Late March- Early April : Lots of jobs being advertised but few actually seem to start until late Apr, Most annoying part of year as you don't know if you should stay or go. You get your time wasted by clients/agents A LOT

Late April - Mid June: New Budgets!!! (best time of year)

Late June - Mid Sept : Forget it, everyone is on holiday, might as well join them

Mid Sept - Mid/Late Nov: Companies trying to make up for nothing really happening for past 4 months and end of calendar year looming so hire more contractors (aka good time)

Dec - Mid Jan: Forget it, everyone is thinking more about crimbo parties than work (or recovering from crimbo) Go somewhere warm instead

If it was true, they would coincide anyway?
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
