Nationwide always give very good exchange rates when using your Debit card from ATMs abroad, and no fee within Euroland. I went to Turkey last week which is outsie of Europe and they are suppsed to be charging a £1.50 fee for FX but didn't do it there either.
Often you get a marginally better rate in a high street bank at the destination, I find, not in a high street exchange kiosk though. I tend to buy as much as posssible on my Nationwide card, you get a wholesale exchange rate on those.
