I got my first job working in IT. Back in those days we coded on real machines (VAX VMS) using real languages (FORTRAN).
You whipper snappers dont know you are born.
I started about 30 years ago, writing COBOL programs and submitting stacks of punch cards to be run overnight on an ICL 1900.
And I do mean *writing* - We'd write the code, letter by letter, on squared sheets for secretaries to use in preparing the cards.
Thankfully I transferred to Prime minis not long after, and switched from horrible COBOL to FORTRAN and PL1 (in fact some "PL1 in a matchbox" sawn-off version called PLP).
