Oops - I've just destroyed my landlord's cooker

First time I tried to use it. A small white benchtop electric hob.

I put the pan of pasta on and turned up the heat. It took ages to heat up, and then boiled real slow. But I got there in the end, and enjoyed a nice meal.

Funny that during the cooking process there was the smell of burning plastic - but I thought nothing of it.

Anyway the problem is that there is a fold up cover that goes over the cooking elements - I didn't know! I was cooking through the cover
Now there is a huge burn mark complete with bubbled plastic on the underside.

    Shall I do a runner? It's 10.50pm over here in clog-land

Or do you think I could tipp-ex over it to hide the damage?

      Buy a replacement cover??
The close proximity of the letters 'G' and 'T' are the reason I'll never again send an important email and end it with "Regards" ....

Now's the time to regret throwing those £50 notes away

Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.

It's OK, he managed to cook his dinner in the end. There's no need for him to build a cooking fire.
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

Are you a septic? The word is slowly

Tell your insurer, they'll sort it.

                True. That makes it:
It took ages to heat up, and then boiled real slowly

But isn't that a bit wrong still?

It took ages to heat up, and then boiled really slowly

                That's better I think...

It took ages to heat up, and then boiled very slowly

The reality of the event is not in question.
