Career change - last time is was plumbing..

ISTR last time there was a downturn lots of IT bods retrained as plumbers.

Anyone have any ideas for a career change now that will still make good returns once up and running?

The arrival of a load of Polish gents put the spanner in the spokes for plumbing.

Exactly... and I imagine for quite a few similar professions...

I quite like the idea of undertaker... I wear black most of the time as it is

I was watching The Home Show recently and they mentioned there is a big shortage of electricians at the moment - the figure quoted was 11, 000 (I think).

I read last year of such a company in I think- based in Yorkshire that was the result of the acquisition of several family run funeral parlours - anyway they had their annual general meeting whereupon the financial results showed a whopping increase of profit - there was a somewhat subdued reaction as perhaps celebrating by virtue of - well more Deaths - may seem a tad undignified.

                But as the Spannish say

Honour and Money do not belong in the same Purse.

If you are thinking of kicking the old bucket - be sure to get at least three quotes.

Because my DIY skills are very poor, I'd give plumbing a go but I'm not playing with electricity. If I get the plubing wrong then the worst case is I flood everywhere or cover stuff in poo. If it goes wrong with that lectric-trickery then it's a nasty shock or death.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                    I preferred version 1!
