Are dyson vacuum cleaners worth buying, or are they for middle class fops? Are they the choice of the discerning cleaner, or are they like those overpriced cockney guv'nor fruit and veg stalls?

The first vacuum cleaner that I bought was when I was fitting out an unfurnished flat with a flat-mate. We spent a load of money that weekend on furniture and other items (and I was a permie then) so when it came to buying a vacuum cleaner we chose the cheap option.
It was a false economy. To pick fluff from off the carpet you had to pick it up with your fingers and hold it over the nozzle. That one ended up in the bin. -

Buy British!!!
Mrs MM was very impressed by ours when compared to our last "normal" vac.
Being such a "manly" man, I have no opinion on the relative merits of vacuum cleaners."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."Comment

I got a Miele hoover, really powerful and has taken some stick over the years but still good as new. I think I read somewhere that Miele build there stuff to last the longest compared to any other brand.Comment

Mrs PL has been using ours for 7 years without problems.
I of course have no opinion.
The house didn't need hoovering before she moved in.Comment
