The summer sun is fading as the year grows old

And darker days are drawing near

I've just looked out the window and the leaves on the tree outside are turning. One just blew away. Soon all I'll have to see is the council estate over the road.

I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
And one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them

I must work harder so that I get out of here.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Ok, now I have a Jeff Wayne classic in my head. Or should I say Moody Blues.
That was my grandma's fave record. She used to play it over and over again.

Well, I saw a Bird today
flying from a bush and the
        Wind blew it away.

And the black-eyed Mother Sun scorched the butterfly
        At play
        velvet veined.
        I saw it burn.

With a storm-blown sigh, a silver cloud blew
        Right on by
And, taking in the morning, I sang
        o requiem.

        Close behind the taxi stand.
I didnt say a word, as the train time-table blurred
Saw her face in the tear-drop black cab window.

Fading in the traffic; watched her go.
And taking in the morning, heard myself singing ---
        O requiem.

        Here I go again.
        Its the same old story.
Well, I saw a bird today

        I looked aside and walked
        Away along the strand.
