Progressive are good at what they do, aren't they?

Even though I wasn't born yesterday, I nearly fell for the following email. I used to work for <previous ClientCo> a few years ago.
    Dear Numpty,

I hope this email finds you well.

If we have spoken or you have had my monthly email before, you will know that I am the specialist in the recruitment of IT contractors for Progressive.

One of my key clients at the moment is <previous ClientCo>. I recruit for senior contract roles, ie Project Managers, Programme Managers, Business Analysts, Change Managers etc

Due to the fact that any client would prefer to take on candidates that have past experience with their company; my first preference for candidates would be past employees. If you would be interested in working for <previous ClientCo> again please send me an updated CV and answer the following questions.

What type of role would you be interested in?

What date range did you work for <previous ClientCo>?

What was your role when working for <previous ClientCo>?

What department did you work for within <previous ClientCo>?

Who did you work for when working for <previous ClientCo>? (The client will need to know who you worked for to follow up a reference with this manager before your application will be considered)

    Did you work Contract/Perm?

Thanks for your interest in working for <previous ClientCo> and I will be in touch in due course.

    Regards

    David Procter

It was me that applied the bold. He knows the role and date range, Shirley, since he contacted me based on what my CV says? It was that which got me thinking.

I get mails like that and they make me laugh:

I hope this email finds you well.
To me that just sounds like someone trying to be all matey yet you know they don't care. It just doesn't read right...

So if he's the specialist they what are all the others?

"ClientCo, this is Numpty. Numpty, this is ClientCo. Oh, you've already met? Never mind, that'll still be £20,000 please."
