    Daily Doom

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8256404.stm

Defence giant BAE Systems is to cut 1,100 jobs and close its facility in Woodford, Cheshire, a union has said.

The Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions (CSEU) said the news was "bitterly disappointing".

If confirmed by BAE, it comes five months after the firm said it was trimming 500 jobs and closing sites in Telford, Leeds and Guildford.

No-one from BAE Systems, which is the UK's largest defence company, was immediately available to comment.

Still, the weak pound should be good for our defense industry exports.

Now that the sun has started to dim, the mood on the street seems to be getting more bearish. The chappies and chappettes on housePriceCrash also seem quite upbeat about the prospect of an impending house price crash.

They've been waiting nine years to have their day on HousePriceCrash.co.uk and people go and spoil it for them this year.

The doom sayers drip drip drip of pessimism quite possibly manufactred the first crash (or at least made it worse). This time there is reason behind the doom saying. More and more out of work. Any mortgage support schemes have a finite shelf life.
The current rise is a blip. The better off have realised the first crash was more hype than substance but they have overlooked the real indicators.

Brown has been doing all he can to keep house prices from falling, which would be an election disaster. But Thatcher once said you can't buck the markets.

Well reasoned, well argued and well presented. You must be right.
