    Cold Calling

Has anyone here ever cold-called a client they've never met before and blagged at least a meeting from it, which will (eventually) lead to a gig?

Just did it. It's a rush.

I tried calling one company that would be a very good match and they just referred me to their list of agencies they would only deal through.

        Oh well done that man!

How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Perhaps it might be worth offering to do a day or so of free consultancy to those types, to look at a present issue that they are having trouble with.
Then after they see you are quite good, they can direct you to an agency and tell the agency to hire you for them.

          Nice work Menelaus

Hope you applied lots of hair product first and got yourself a nasty cheap suit from Next for the occasion.

Thanks guys - you're giving me the warm and fuzzies!

Menelaus the company has developed and patented a method for stress testing portfolios of building society debt and whilst small building societies wouldn't want to pay extortionate rates to KPMG and the like because I can deliver it faster, better and cheaper (specifically, fixed cost) I'm expected to get pick up on this basis.
