LLoyds TSB service gone crap - whats the best current account?

In the last year Llooyds TSB customer service has become completely pants.
After 19 years with them I want to change - anyone got any ideas on the best current account?
    Hard Brexit now!

    Don't you have private banking?
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

LloydsTsb - been with them a similar length of time with no real customer service issues.

      Nationwide - bargepole, touch, don't

Halifax - my current faves. Transfers to other (non halifax) accounts in 2-3 hours. I can even set up international payments online. No complaints so far.

We recognise that you need a flexible and convenient current account that offers attractive interest rates, which is why we’ve developed our Private Bank Account with multiple currency options. You can hold this account in Sterling, US Dollar and/or euro. This is ideal if you travel abroad regularly or have a second home outside the UK. It gives you the freedom to transfer money between accounts without incurring any currency conversion charges.

            Excellent service.

All doomed currencies though. Do you have to be rich to open a private bank account?

Relatively unpoor. Here in NL I am with Rabobank Private Banking; available to customers with 80,000 euros to invest and exceedingly excellent, even though other private banks want half a million or so, but they're not in the UK. I'm not sure how much you need in the UK.

Ah, just saw a minimum balance of £5000, which was lower than I was expecting. Didn't see much on the interest rates offered or on the currency conversion cost. Do you get stung on conversion? Not keen on the three currencies offered either.
