Insurance Payout - £1600 Curry vouchers / £1000 Cash. Which to take

    As above??

    Quite lost at the mo.

They have offered 1600 pounds in currys vouchers or 1k in cash

    What would you take?

Do currys sell anything useful at a reasonable price

They are more expensive than you could find online, but not 60% more expensive. If you have any need for a big TV or new kitchen appliances I'd take the vouchers.

In terms of "good stuff" they sell a huge range including all but the top-end specialist stuff... Bosch, LG, Phillips, etc, etc.

What would the minimum cash settlement be that you would be prepared to accept?

      Thats a more interesting question

How long have you got to decide?

Ebay auction for the 1600 vouchers with an auction end time of the time by which you need to have made a decision. Set a 1100 reserve. Passes the reserve, take the vouchers, if it doesn't, take the cash.

I want 10% of the amount >1000 you gain via this technique, ta

I first read the subject I thought - that's a lot of Jalfrezi!

Honestly, it didn't occur to me it was vouchers for the shop.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

You need to make sure that the vouchers are in small enough denominations to be useful (though perhaps it will come in a "loaded card" form) and that there isn't an unreasonably short timescale to spend them.

I couldn't spend 1600 pounds in Currys in three months and possibly not even in 12.

I would say that 1600 in currys vouchers is worth about 1k in cash given that you can buy better products considerably cheaper on t'internet. Can you not haggle for a bit more cash? What exactly are you looking to replace?

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

I once mistakenly went for 180 quids worth of BA vouchers instead of 100 in cash when they bumped me off a flight. If I remember correctly I had to go to their shop in London to redeem them and it simply wasn't worth a trip there just for that.

I should have taken the cash.

If they offer you these vouchers it means they are worth considerably less than their cash offer
