Anyone watch the Derren Brown Casino Event?

I'm confused. I was waiting for the sting in the tail, was there one or did it really just end with him failing? Was that whole show just to make his other 'successes' in the series look more convincing?

I think it was live, and his trick just didnt work.
Everyone looked a bit stunned at the end of the program.

Live fail as far as I could tell - although he was only one slot away from winning

He mentions it on his blog, BTW:
...I’m still reeling from tonight’s escapade. I called Ben as soon as I could and he doesn’t hate me, so I can sleep tonight.

I'm no more convinced about that 'failure' than I am about any of the stunts that succeeded. The bit where he was testing himself to see if he could judge the speeds of cars with Westwood on a motorway bridge was farcical.

What was he trying to do?
            (I didn't see the show).

Make a croupier think he is a potato while simultaneously betting everything on black and winning?

Mind you, anything with Westwood in it is usually farcical. That's not really Brown's fault

At least he can make up for it by just predicting the lottery numbers and winning a few million twice a week

He was trying to guess where the ball would land on a roulette wheel by judging the speed of the ball and the speed of the wheel. He would then calculate in his mind where the ball might bounce and eventually land and place his bet accordingly. It's a technique that has been done before in casinos but using a computer to perform the calculations and even then it was only able to narrow it down to a group of numbers. He claimed he could do it in the same way but all in his head, and be able to calculate exactly which single number the ball would land on.

There's no way he would be allowed to win and take the money. Do you guys really think he can predict where the ball is going to land? Duh <pulls best gurning face>
