    What's the Menelaus back-story?

Hope admin don't mind me asking after the other thread was closed... this is a thread about Menelaus not Helen. Everyone seems to know a lot about this Menelaus character as if it were well-discussed and I feel left out. I remember seeing him on CUK I think... but nothing else.

Can anyone give a potted history?

Menelaus is Craig Colclough, google "Craig Colclough" and the answer to your first question will be "yes, it is him".

I like the way Diver comes storming in at the end of that thread completely off-topic

I seem to remember that Menelaus/Craig once claimed to be a quant model developer for investment banks, I was quite impressed - the thing is that is not something you can easily blag your way into and the banks have rigourous tests and interview processes to sniff out bulltulip but at the end of the day I am SHOCKED to read the history about Menelaus i.e. the bigomy, posing as a doctor and through mis-diagnosis allowing an unfit pregnant women to become ill.

It sounds to me a bit like Leonardo DeCaprio in film "Catch Me If You Can".

I mean WTF is going on here people !!!!! I don't understand this.

And why us at contractoruk ???? are we a magnet for nutters ?

It's the nature of the beast, I'm afraid.

99% of IT people spend their time interfacing with machines and technology instead of people. Add in a healthy dose of internet surfing, fringe culture and geeky hobbies, and I'm surprised more of haven't gone of the rails.

Anyway, I've got to go and walk my pet tomato, so I'll catch up with you all later.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

              C.S. Lewis

When I was growing up in India there was a way of dealing with this villun. A group of men would go to the doorstep of the willun and they would begin to remove their clothing until they were in there undergarments. It never went any further than this and the villun always paid up.
