    Statistics

Can anyone recommend a good book on statistics?

Something in-between a dummies guide type book and an intermediate text.

Need to brush up on my stats and makes sense to do it whilst on the bench.

        That's not statistics - that's mathematical certainty

Not sure, but mathematical, I believe, would suffice.

My main use would be in reporting in an IT Service Delivery environment.

A really good set of books, that I keep around for reference purposes, are the OU course books for M248, M249, M343, M346. They takes up about half a shelf, but there's no wasted space.

              • "It has now been proven beyond a doubt that smoking is the major cause of statistics."
              • In China, even if you are a one out of a million kind of guy, there are thousands more just like you!
              • Statistics play an important role in genetics. For instance, statistics prove that numbers of offspring is an inherited trait. If your parent didn't have any kids, odds are you won't either.
              • A statistician is a professional who dilegently collects facts and data and then carefully draws confusions about them.
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Try to confine yourself to stuff you know something about.
