    Private Eye's ads

Private Eye (the mag) has got classifield ads at the end (no suprise here), some of which are quiet strange, ie: "Unable to afford excessive tuition fees, contribitions welcome (bank account number here)" or "starving but promising artist offers one painting per year in return for funding (accout here)" or even: "ambitious young idealist seeks 1.8 bln quid to buy the Daily Mail and close it down. Every little helps - [account number here]".

    wtf?

Thats is 'allegedly' Alexander Mann trying another revenue stream.

By sending them yer cash you agree to not give money to anybody else but them for 6 months.

I used to subscribe to PE for a long time and apparently the classified section staff discourage people from placing these ads. Some of the people who place the ads are very deep in debt and the staff are supposed to tell the people that the amount of money that others donate may be less than the ad fee (if they donate at all).

The above could be a good piece of spin put out by PE as its difficult to imagine sales staff turning down sales.
