I'm looking for any recommendations for a lodge or other hideaway/hidden gem of a location in Scotland in winter/early january.
Plans are to spend 3 days in Edinburgh over Hogmanay/New Year which we have accomodation booked for and then 4 days somewhere in the lower Scottish Highlands.
Only criteria is that it should be somewhere picturesque and no more than 6hrs drive from Manchester. Im thinking of a log cabin or nice inn with log fire and a great view that's nearby to a village that has a good pub restaurant.
Any ideas?
