    Fire warnings over drunk cooking

I saw this amusing story of a bloke who put something on the grill whilst drunk, fell asleep, and burned his house down:

Have you ever done anything similar? I'll put my hand up first - I once incinerated a pizza after 4 hours at gas mark 8 in the oven. It was literally burned to a black crisp

    (the bloke lived)

I did exactly that last weekend. Surprised I wasn't asphyxiated.

I know someone that put some food on after coming back from the pub and woke up when a fireman was putting an oxygen mask on his face.

Yorkshire Fire Brigade did a big "don't drink & fry" campaign a few years ago.

I'll own up to cremating a pizza while drunk.

Chicken pie got nuked last year after I had fallen asleep on the sofa, gf was none to pleased to come in the house and find me snoring while the oven was making a good impression of a smoke machine.

I have problems forgetting things when I'm sober.

There is no way will I attempt to do anything more than put the kettle on once I've had a drink. Even that would be taking a risk.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Done that (more than once) while stone cold sober. My study is located at the opposite end of the house, one floor up, so if I get too engrossed, the time can fly by and I can't smell the burning...

                    Crikey

Well I'm glad from the other answers that I'm not the only guilty contractor in that regard.
