British Midland suffering - no more flights to Amsterdam...

I got this through Diamond Club news...

    Dear xxxxxxxx

As a valued Diamond Club member, we're contacting you with important news about our route network.

We are sorry to let you know that we will be suspending our London-Amsterdam service on 27 March 2010. In addition, we will be transferring our London Heathrow-Brussels service over to Brussels Airlines from 10 January. Brussels Airlines will join Star Alliance in December this year, so as a Diamond Club member you'll earn membership status as well as destinations miles when you fly with them.

Due to unprecedented adverse market conditions we are regrettably also suspending services between London Heathrow and Tel Aviv, Kiev and Aleppo, from early next year.

    Route Last flight date
London-Tel Aviv Departing London 9 January 2010 Departing Tel Aviv 10 January 2010
    London-Kiev 10 January 2010
    London-Aleppo Departing London 9 January 2010
    Departing Aleppo 10 January 2010

If you have a booking on any of our affected services, you will be contacted from 2 December onwards to discuss your reaccommodation options.

We'd like to thank you for your continued loyalty and apologise for any inconvenience.

    Regards

    Keeley Downing

Dutch contractors market is tulipe at the moment, so there aren't planeloads of techies going back and forth at weekends. They'll probably reinstate the service very quickly when things pick up.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

they have switched to Geneva - the plane I get there are a good 8 to 10 regulars on it each week. I think they are all contractors but I think they work which is why they don't post on here
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

      I preferred version 1!

I think there is (was) a lot of competition on this route for BD, there is also Easyjet (from Gatwick), BA, KLM and VLM (from London City) and a no doubt lots of flights from regional airports which remove the need to have to fly to London to connect onto an AMS flight.

KLM AMS flights both in and out are seemingly always full these days and getting fuqqing expensive.

I have not been flying frequently (my client has cut down on costs) but everytime I do the flight has been quite busy though there are less flights per day than before. Not sure about AMS but on LHR-FRA the last flight per day has been cut by both LH and BA.

I've started booking my flights between home and Geneva at least 6 weeks in advance. the last group of flights came in at an average of 45quid for the return. I've just booked the flights for Jan4 to 12 feb (6 return trips) and that's cost me 289 all in. The flight for the week after (being the week after 14th is stupidly expensive - so being a romantic sort of bloke I might take that week off

I didn't get that email (yet).

I thought BMI were now owned by Luftwaffe now anyway? At least the Brussels route is still star alliance, though.

this might have something to do with it....

Heathrow sales throw bmi a lifeline - some slots have been sold to Swiss which they will fly Heathrow to Geneva.
