    CUK Private Messages

My PM box was almost full, so I got rid of everything in my Inbox and Outbox... but not before downloading everything as XML, CSV, and plain text.

I used to just download stuff as XML before clearing the decks; I'm not sure why I went for all three formats this time.

What (if anything) do you do with your stored PMs?

N.B. - Multiple choice, so remember to tick as many boxes as you want

I used to download them before purging.

Now I get so few that I can't be bothered.

When it gets full, then I'll think about deleting some.

      Maybe.

I don't want to tick any of them, so I ticked 'em all.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I don't download them; I just delete them en masse. I have a 2Gb email archive going back to 1995 and I can't be arsed adding CUK PMs to it too!

So I've gone for the Private Massage.

What I do do though is to cut and paste good posts that I consider have good advice in them (you can't rely on the Search facility around here to retrieve it when you need it).

It doesn't happen too often but it does occur.

And I've discovered the importance of attribution, the advice doesn't seem as good if I don't know who gave it...

You could use Google* to search the site though.

No one ever wants to talk to me anyway so I don't have any PM's to archive
