Recruiter Awards 2010 - what a farce these things are!

With my invitation to Recruiter's Wards for Excellence 2010 is the opportunity to enter the competition.

(Don't ask how I got this: let's just say I just like to know what the buggers are up to. )

Would you care to vote on who should win? You can't. It is a pre-selected panel of judges that will be doing that.

Decide for yourselves whether LA International Computer Consultants should have been last year's winner of the "Best IT Recruitment Firm" category.

Would you care to submit a recruiter for entry? You can. It will cost you £105 (+ VAT.)

I see the gala dinner tickets (in blocks of 10) come in at £145 each. How about a bunch of us go in April (using up our £150 per head per annum piss-up fund) and spoil the occasion with heckling?

I'm not paying 145 quid to shout "winker" at the idiots. How about we picket outside and then all go to the pub?
The whole awards thing is rubbish. I worked on "award winning software" and it was the biggest pile of crap ever.

A previous public sector ClientCo won a medal from an American establishment. Two minutes in Google told me the process for winning one of these was to pay a few hundred dollars to buy one.

Maybe I should buy that $400 PhD.
