    Limited Company & Business Rates

I know that Personal Service Companies dont have to pay buisness rates, but Im not sure why.

I work fro home for my client and came across this:

    http://www.voa.gov.uk/publications/p...from_home.html

Just raised some doubts for me....

can anyone put record straight in regards to buisness rates.

    Thanks

Ltd Co contractors typically use their home as the Registered Office Address and do some paperwork from there. That is insufficient to attract business rates. [item 3 on that link you provided]

The powers that be also tend not to carry about people who have a bedroom from which they do work full-time, as my wife does, that merely involves posting / emailing work out. [item 5 on that link you provided.]

If, however, you worked from home and had clients visiting and were trading out of your front room, and filling huge bins with waste every week, they'd be wanting some money.

That link seems to provide sufficient information for you to determine your status. Do you have a dedicated office? Has it been converted? What is in it and who owns those things? Do clients visit?

My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.
