    Wife and best friend

Old ball and chain, trouble and strife, war office. Many things I have called her over the years. Bestest chum ever though.

I was chatting over one of my working days last week, and she was intently listening (she puts up with me, needs a medal)

Anywho, I was chatting over my current gig (the one that started off a bit wobbly) Things are most definately on the up. I was telling her how I was spreading my wings as a BA now and actually had some people skills and talents for conflict resolution. Seriously, I may have found my forte.

She heard me out and then said ....

"I'm pleased. It's about time you spread your wings. I mean in the last couple of gigs they've been clipped a bit. Well, when I say a bit, I mean a lot. Well, you know, clipped back to the quills. No, I mean, I think it's good your spreading your , erm wings, no wait, I mean er, waggling your downy stumps"

Fell off my chair laughing. No chance of me getting too big for my boots, and that's why I love her.

You get abuse at work, abuse at home and then you go and post in General?

Where should I have posted? Is there a rule of thumb for what is acceptable for posting in general? If there is the mind boggles as to what it is.

I was trying to post something positive, and heart warming. I have been bawled out as that contractor that "lurches from contract to contract", which stings a bit tbh. I have found that I am less suited to unprofessional bullying type environments but thrive in larger corporates with professional working attitudes. Which should come as no surprise really, I went into IT as I wanted to work in professional working environments. The sad thing is that there are tulip holes and its not until you actually start you realise it, and that you have been duped at interview. As a rule of thumb if that happens again I'll just walk. It was because I tried to tough it out, that being accused of "Lurching from contract to contract" really knobs me off.

I also accept no working environment is perfect. I just wont put up with bullying. And that includes on here.

OK - how many people read the thread title and thought we were going to get some kind of story about a threesome?

I thought it was perhaps leading towards divorce.

Or thumping his best friend for trying it on.

Wife is your best friend - that isn't right and ain't natural.

You always need a second opinion from a trusted source that is outside your union.

Ah, now that is more along the lines of their job description.

Just had a thought. Did she have a gun at your head when you made this post?
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Christ only knows. I expected you to get a load of abuse for that post as is the norm for General. I was pre-empting this. It was meant to be funny. It probably needed either a or a or a at the end. Oops.

                  Yes. No bloody sport!

Yep. That's General for you. And General has been less aggressive this past six months than the preceding years; probably because of the state of the market.

There are a load of people on here who are either naturally aggressive, or have become bitter and don't care any more, or have yet to have a bad experience in work (and it will come). They pick at scabs, pour salt on wounds and push blades into cracks in the armour for amusement.

I'm sorry if you thought I was having a go. It was meant as a variation on the old "I don't need to come here to be abused!" gag.

Hey ho. Non-facial textual communication modes, eh? Who needs 'em? They'll never catch on.
