Christmas - How much are you spending?

Having read earlier today that some consider a £48 gift set from Molton Brown an "inexpensive stocking filler", how much are you spending on your partner / spouse / significant other?

We're sticking to £50-ish and then going on holiday when we get a chance in the new year... well, thats the plan anyway

The Missus & I have been carrying around £35 worth of book vouchers for about 18 months.

So we went in to Borders the other night to spend them. We were going to give each other nothing; instead we thought we may as well use up the vouchers.

So we gathered up a load of stuff ('cos they had loads of offers on) and went to the till. What we though was going to be £38 came out at something like £28 because they had even more offers on at the till because of their financial state.

I handed over the vouchers: "Sorry, we don't take them any more". I considered 'going into one', the Missus calmed things down by saying we'll just pay cash.

While I was fuming and muttering things like "You could put a bloody sign up", the supervisor said: "I'm really sorry. We got the notice about an hour ago that we no longer to take any kind of vouchers or credit cards. They reckon they'll be able to tell us how many days notice we get in the morning."



"Sorry. Merry Christmas."

So the answer was £0 but became about £15 each. (For about £80 worth of stuff, BTW)

Great innit? This happened same time last year when I went into Woollies. Are there any business you want to go bust just before Xmas next year?

So thats £124, and I still need to get a couple of stocking fillers.

Our budget this year was £20 plus £5 for presents from the girls.

I think that I'm about £27 in total.
