    Current Security Clearance ??

Why is it many jobs ask for "Current Security" clearance , however the MOD guidance states that SC is first obtained by your sponsor i.e company you work for. So when they ask for a security clearance , they practically need you to have been cleared by another employer/client ?

Just say you've got it. What's to lose: a warm place on the bench?

Most of the time you can bluff it, then they'll give you an escort pass whilst they rush it through.

Not a bad idea, though don't technically lie. I've always bigged up previous clearances. I lost one role because of this but gained another.

Of course don't lie. Just evade answering properly. For training in that part of the 'craft' just get into conversation with agents spamming you for leads; watch and learn, watch and learn Rodders.

            Absolutely.

Don't worry too much about misleading an agent or potential client about your SC. One thing to bear in mind is that (old) clients can refuse to transfer it, or can cancel it when you leave. Some do this. Also some clients require slightly different SC so they need to re-clear everyone anyway, but this usually doesn't stop them insisting on candidates having SC!

Erm, they (the client) will likely do a quick check for it before you can start. In the odd case where you may get through the door before they find out, they can march you off site if you`re found to not have it - seen it happen. Don`t think they`ll put you through the process just because you`re in the door.

Misleading a client over SC is telling porkies

                WHS^

SC is two a penny these days so they'll have little problem replacing the liers.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Civil servants are very lazy, it takes a special type of contractor to get with the molasses like slowness. They rarely check, or if they do, the process involved, asking their secretary to check, and they making a call, and then returning the memo, takes so long your contract can in fact be close to renewal.

Once upon a time, pre-donut, I'd finished one contract, moved on, and I'd already been on another gig for 7 months before someone called asking why I wasn't in the office.
