I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry. Several ex-colleagues are having serious problems with patches coming out of HP at the moment.

Like, er, the patch installations clearly haven't been tested.

My limited experiance with HP suggests that testing is not their thing! I used to work with Enterprise Discovery that HP flog. It's used to scan and report on hardware and software and you are supposed to be able to base your sw licensing costs on it. The problem we found was that ED was discovering Windows 2003 std and windows 2003 ent. The cost difference between the 2 is huge. On our project alone this little glitch would have hit us with 300k of sw costs if we'd trusted the ED numbers. I pulled apart the ED fingerprint for 2003 std to find they had missed a couple of files - after adding these in the products were correctly identified. I passed this back to HP who 2 mins after they got my info, told us that they would issue it as part of their next update. They didn't test it. In their next update my change was included but no info from HP to inform users that there may have been an issue with the produts identified in previous months

Had 4 offers come through recently for Connectirect as basically all German financial institutions have to use it. Its just a more secure file transfer application
