    Oh frak

Noticed that the overflow had been p*ssing all night so I was sent up into the attic to investigate.

My loft is full of snow.

The weight of the snow had buckled in the cover of the hot water tank, thus depressing the ball valve.

It will melt unless I get up there and man the shovels / bilge pumps.
Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.

jeez, you must have a fairly big hole in your roof.

I would get on the blower to a roofer, sort out where the snow is coming in from .

The snow melting will damage your internal ceiling - possible insurance claim

The roof is not felted. The high winds blew the snow under the tiles.

Time you got it re-roofed then, with breathable underfelt.

Have you got a Vax or Goblin? If so suck it all up and book a roofer for May.

...Or shovel it into the water tank where it will melt and disperse through the overflow then book a roofer for May.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
