Never was the Term "Warchest" More Appropriate

IT consultant Peter Moore - now back in Britain after being held hostage by kidnappers in Iraq for two and a half years - will be paid in full for the time he spent in captivity.

USAID policy is that any personnel kidnapped while on the job are paid in full for time spent incarcerated, and a spokesman for Moore confirmed to the Reg today that this will apply in his case....

The exact rates to be paid to Moore for his 31 months in captivity have not been disclosed, but the level of danger to foreigners in Iraq was very high in the years 2006-07, and pay rates for such workers generally reflected this
Too bloody right... good for him

Just hope HMRC won't try to tax him on it - they'll probably say that because he couldn't provide proof of where was living for the past 3 years, they won't accept he was non-resident.

I hope they wont pay him any meal/accomodation expenses. After all he was sponging off his captives for all that time......

      Seriously - well done Peter

And he'll make double what he's gonna be paid when he sells his story/book . GOod for him though, I'm sure he thought he was a dead man many times.

It's a shame they held him for over 24 months. Unless he can prove they relocated him during that period.

He's on dodgy ground re IR35. I'd like to see him argue his 'right to substitution' or MoO.

He can hardly claim for being on call 24/7 either.

On the contrary, maybe he should bill 168 hours per week instead of 40.
