Reading headlines like this makes me think the worst has yet to come...

I think some of the blame for that comes from Blair, who addressed the nation not long after the Afgan invasion in early 2002(?) and basically told us: "Spend, spend, spend. I cannot emphasise this enough. It's good for everyone."

Come to think of it, I've never heard a Labour government minister advising people to be prudent. At least the tories introduced those PEPs and things.

ETA: seems like a good idea if you can put mortgage payments through the CC (provided you pay the balance off each month) gaining up to 1 month's free interest on the money plus any points, air miles etc.
