    Word of advice

Don't spend 2 frakin hours cocking around with Sun Virtual Box trying to build a Windows 98 SE virtual machine. It says it supports it. It FRAKIN doesnt' Just lets you build the box, boot it a few times and then SVB crashes.

[I wanted to do this as I wanted to play an old game that does run under Vista but the sound stutters and is bloody annoying.]

Have you got a floppy drive in that machine? You could just run Win 98SE off a floppy.

    (Go on, what's the game?)

My memory is a bit dim on this, but that floppy (1.44 MB) would not be enough space to run it, you can install from multiple floppies or maybe run command line interface (DOS 7.0) but it won't be Win98 with GUI.

There will be an app for Muffins on the JesusPhone.

And Muffins for Windows has a certain ring to it.

OK, Win 98SE in DOS mode for games can be run off a floppy.
