TykeMerc suggested that would improve my signal/noise ratio.

Poll to follow.

I'll check the result in 24 hours from time of this thread and will obey the will of the people and sockpuppets on here...

All of the SKA <Placeholder> threads have totally obscured any interesting value that SKA might have.

There's been so much noise posted on the SKA subject I seriously doubt that it's it's even a real project. That's the effect of having such a terrible signal to noise ratio, you simply aren't believable.

AtW
24th January 2010, 19:23
you simply aren't believable.

It's an unbelievable project mate :smokin

So far: 8 against, 9 for, and 4 conditionally for (I'll ignore those votes for the benefit of an honest poll that isn't rigged in any way...)

See, more noise that dilutes the signal.

If you expect people to actually believe or appreciate any of what you post then you're going about it the wrong way.

Indeed.

I'd prefer he keeps the news to a single big thread, then at least (assuming it's not total fantasy) it would be possible to see how the project evolves. It would also minimise the clutter of multiple junk threads.

FWIW, a search for threads in General started by AtW and having "SKA" in the title returns 41 results:

5 in 2005
5 in 2006
2 in 2007
9 in 2008
18 in 2009
2 in 2010

How many of them were so-called "placeholder" threads?

A lot of such threads were NOT started by me...

So, 39% of threads started by me with SKA in them were "placeholder" threads?

Now how many many SKA threads that were placeholder were NOT started by me? If it's over 16 then I wash me hands...

499 threads have got SKA and placeholder in them...The CUK search does not work like that. It is 499 with SKA OR placeholder. It cannot do 'AND' searches. Nor literal strings.

There are a number of "female" posters whose authenticity is dubious. I think that administrator once alluded to these all belonging to AtW and coining the term "fembot" for them.

EDIT: I can't find it now so perhaps I imagined it.

I don't think that Zips is one of them, that is a joke.

This picture here: link (http://shipmodeling.info/photo/albums/uploads/rigging/Full-Rigged_Ship_1500x1200.gif) - is of a three masted sailing vessel, correctly called a 'ship'.

It is drawn to show it flying as many of its sails as possible, and the picture shows some of the sheets (lines for holding the corners of the sails) and other lines used to holding the masts and spars in place. It is a nice picture and some may like to use it as their Windows background for a little while as an educational tool or for decorative purposes.

However, this picture : link (http://www.photographers1.com/Sailing/WarshipNomenclature.jpg) - is of a different kind of vessel yet it is also a 'ship' but this is a 'first rate' 'ship-of-the-line'.

This cross-section is a fascinating piece of work; I should love to own a good quality copy of the original. Although I am sure your eye is drawn to the detail inside the vessel, I should like to move your attention further up to the 'lines' (they are not called 'ropes') holding the upper structure together. Is it nor a marvellous feat of human ingenuity that such a spider's web can be designed, let alone constructed and operated in poor weather?

And yet, neither of those vessels is as fully rigged as this poll.

EternalOptimist

There's only one rope on a ship.

only one ?

go on, why is that ?

only one ?

go on, why is that ?Because all the others (besides the one on the b---) are lines, hawsers cables or chains.
