Could Apple be announcing the Apple tablet tomorrow?

If it is, could it be a flop?

They could and it could.

But then, maybe they won't and it won't...

How can it be a flop? There are more than enough 'Apple chasers' who couldn't see a good thing if it hit them. As long as it has an Apple logo, it's shiney and has some funky input method they will buy it.

:D I was going to add the comment to my previous post that the logos I have are probably worth quite a bit now.

With this surplus we could randomly attack PC users screens in the work place - that would be so funny,

Will these really catch on? Awkward size, too big for a phone so can't put it in your pocket, small for a laptop, and much more expensive than a laptop too.

Yes, but it's got an Apple badge.

I'd imagine they'll be popular with sales folk.

It'll be the sort of thing you have in the house, rather than carry about with you.

If it is, could it be a flop? It's coming. An unknown apple device (located in an Apple location, and 90% not an iPhone) has been detected by the folk that monitor these things.

Yep, that was the link I couldn't find. Interesting reading, clever they're able to do it. And noteworthy that it's virtually impossible for anyone to develop and test a new device without it being detectable.

Their analytics framework is used by a lot of iPhone developers. I suppose Apple could have restricted themselves to testing apps that don't use it, but then they wouldn't have been testing a representative sample.

It'll be interesting to see how many apps work correctly on the new beast. I've seen a lot of example code in blogs, tutorials, and even books that does things like hard-coding the window dimensions; instant fail I would imagine, when all they had to do was get the dimensions via the API provided

Be a bit of a shocker if the tablet is NOT announced, that's for sure...

Do we really care though, as per most Apple products it will be all style and little substance all wrapped up by the usual hype (which they will get bollocked for as usual)

It will probably be the usual story, people want shiny objects, other people want shiny objects, before you know it there are thousands of the lemming like types all wanting these shiny objects that aren't really any better than the "cheap, nasy tack " without an apple badge.

itwats.....

no, and as a result I can make and recieve calls (without them cutting out)
Browse the web at a decent speed,
and my calls do not get constantly diverted to my answerphone

Oh, and i can change my battery if it runs out.....

P.S and my phone was free, and open source...

Your opinion on the iPhone (as far as I can tell) is based on problems with the O2 network - except for the battery thing which is an annoyance, but not a reason to discount a very compelling platform.

OK MM,
You're correct, I did have an iphone to run a specific app, I can see the advantages of having one, however my frustrations were caused by O2,and the iphone as a whole as the functionality was crippling, also the misleading ads annoyed me because everything was simulated and makes the iphone look like another product altogether. The Comms companys all know this and charge silly rates and lock you into long contracts to bleed every penny out of you, all this and i couldn't even tether my phone to my laptop!

I'm not discounting the platform as a whole, just the device it functions on.
