    Can the unthinkable happen?

Brown winning the next election? The media seem to be turning the heat on the Tories at the moment & Brown's getting some positive coverage. Think I'll be fast tracking my move to Spain if that shower get in again!

What I don't understand is Cameron's apparent U-Turn on cuts. Labour & others have been slating him for following policies that would put the recovery at risk; I understand that he should be cautious in cutting back the fiscal stimulus but surely reducing the shocking bloat in the public sector isn't going to put any recovery at risk. Quite the opposite I'd have thought & the sooner they get rid of 70k per year diversity officers the better IMO.

No, but it would put his chances of being elected at risk.

Don't think anyone occupying any of those positions is likely to vote for him anyway. Was under the impression that general public opinion is in favour of swingeing cuts.

I think there is a very good chance of nuLieBore remaining in power.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

No real reason why Liebor wont win, look at the competition.

          Better the devil you know.

Of course it could be worse, think about a Lab/Con coalition for a minute! Also quite possible.

Er, I think you are over-estimating the length of that coalition by at least 61 seconds.

As Big Joe Stalin once said:

"It's not the people who vote that count. It's the people who count the votes."

Though not a great one with words, I think that what he was trying to say was that the face on the front of Government is not important, the Government machine will remain unchanged.
Those million or so civil servants will go on making policy like IR35 and that other one that have got a few people on here a bit miffed lately. The faces are just Paxman fodder for when things go wrong.

With that thought in mind, the next election seems to be a foregone conclusion.

I don't think that was the case in 1979 though was it?

Anyone who thinks that any major party will get rid of 70k per year diversity officers is deluding themselves. They all promise to cut waste, none of them ever does.
