Mastermind contestant Kajen Thuraaisingham has entered the record books after posting the lowest ever score on the BBC quiz show.
The 28-year-old answered just five questions correctly – the worst total in the programme’s 37-year history.
On his specialist subject – The Life of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk – the software analyst got off to a dismal start by getting four out of 14 questions right.
But his performance went even further downhill in the subsequent general knowledge round as he scored just one out of 15.
Mr Thuraaisingham scored two fewer than the previous worst total, passing 11 times and giving 13 wrong answers.
The Londoner said in a statement through the BBC after the show: “I tried my best but it wasn't my night.”
