SAP software chief in surprise exit

Anyone know what's going on with low morale at SAP?

P.S. I can't help feeling that with a monocle and a fluffy white cat he'd be ideal for the baddy in the next James Bond film.
Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.

The company has shed 3,000 jobs since he took over, its first ever staff reduction programme, and an employee survey conducted in September showed a drastic drop in confidence in the Walldorf-based company’s senior management team.

However, the company’s deteriorating relationship with its customers also played an important part in the management change after the company raised its maintenance fees by 5 per cent when Mr Apotheker took charge last July.

The company was forced into a u-turn after customers revolted at what were perceived to be arbitrary price rises that did not lead to a measureable improvement in performance.

SAP has also been accused of lacking a clear strategy for two years as it tries to adapt its business model away from signing up large customers to complex and lengthy contracts and towards smaller deals.

You'd think they could have mentioned that in the story

Listen, sometimes a mummy and a daddy decide that they are not happy together anymore and that they are going to live in different houses. That doesn't mean that they love you any less.
