Used in that staple of British cuisine, cauliflower cheese, the vegetable had a "large upward effect" on the main inflation rate which rose to 3.5 percent last month, its highest since November 2008, according to official statisticians.

And statisticians get paid to make this tulip up?

No they get paid to measure it as accurately as possible.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

So the major item that pushed inflation up was the cauliflower?

Well, if I miss out on cauliflower cheese I should be safe from the ravages of inflation. I'll just stick the unusual stuff people don't buy like fuel, clothes, etc.

Thank god for government funded statisticians.

The pretence that we aren't going to hyper inflate is wearing a bit thin now (or equivalently that we are going to get deflation). How long before we can move on to the next stage: "inflation is good for us"?

            No carrots were up.

            Long haul flights were down.

So swap the vegetable stew for an luxury holiday in Australia and you'll be fine.

Gotta love Labour and their spin on everything.

Didn't the price of flowers go up on that weekend though?

It doesn't say that anywhere in the story you linked to.
