    Airport security

Why is it that UK airports will not allow you to carry on a corkcrew or a pair of nail clippers, whil the TSA, doing security for the country that actually got hit on 9/11, will allow them?

Think of some of the gun-loving posters on here. Would you like them sat behind you armed with a corkscrew?

You can carry nail clippers if it the type with square ends but not the pointed ones.

WTF are you going to need a corkscrew for on a plane?

There are flight attendants to do all that for you...

I only know one kind, with sort of clipped-nail-shaped ends

I'm moe concerned about the corkscrew.....

It's security theatre. They make you feel "safer" by having to jump through a few hoops before boarding. Nothing to do with any real threat.

What I find bloody odd is that while you cannot take anything of use with you on a plane, ie razor deo etc, if you fly business with most carriers they serve you with nice metal cutlery and give you a wet bag with a razor and a can of deo!

I can't remember ever getting a razor in a care package. Toothbrush, and paste and assorted creams yes, but no razor.

Never had a can of deo either, but I'm pretty sure you can take your own little ones if you want.

I remember reading an interesting comment by a US senator or some such silly old roman rank saying that if we gave you the option of having 2 planes. One with no security and you could go straight on, the other with 4 hours of security screening, which you send your family on?

Kind of made everything else irrelevant I thought. Still wish they would be sensible about it, having no razors or deo, I mean am I the only one who has thought that I could easily tape a blade into the inside of my laptop and it would still work? If your desperate enough you will find a way.

I've had a razor from Singapore Airlines, Quantas and Emirates.
